Mary Liz Burns is a Certified Financial Behavior Specialist® with an MBA from Creighton University, with an emphasis in financial psychology. She is dedicated to helping people reduce the shame and fear around money and has worked on national campaigns empowering women to take control of their finances for a secure future. Mary Liz Burns has over 22 years of experience working with AARP, including communications, marketing, media relations and advocacy experience in the nonprofit arena at the state and national levels. She has served as a spokesperson on money topics, taught public speaking, developed brand strategies and has spoken at national conferences on personal finance communications, media relations and advocacy. In 2024, Mary Liz created a 10-part YouTube video series on Social Security claiming decisions which has received over 3.5 million views to date. She lives in Washington, DC on Capitol Hill.
