Session Info

Bette Ann Mobley has worked with state and national organizations in the field disabilities for more than 45 years. She attended the University of Dayton in Dayton, OH where she received her bachelor’s degree in music therapy and her master’s degree in education/counseling. Her experience spans from working to directly support people with disabilities and their families to serving as a trainer and mentor to others. She has served in many leadership roles in supporting people with disabilities through advocacy, developing and implementing quality systems, and providing consultation to organizations that provide supports and services.

During her work with people with disabilities and their families, she has learned the challenges that come with not being able to save for things that are needed today as well as save for tomorrow. The ever-growing population of aging parents who have adult children with disabilities living at home created the need for her to engage in outreach about the ABLE program that provides this critical tool for financial empowerment and independence.

Bette Ann launched the Maryland ABLE program 7 years ago and has helped to grow this program to over $108.6 million dollars saved and invested by more than 7,300 account holders.  As the Director of the Maryland ABLE program, and Chair of the National Association of State Treasurer’s ABLE Saving Plan Network, she continues to partner with organizations that can help to share information about this critical financial tool. She is excited to be able to share information about this important tax-advantaged program for people with disabilities, their families and caregivers.
