What Dementia Teaches Us: An Empowering, Practical Session

Health Care & Home Care

Date: Sunday, August 24, 2025
Time: 10:55 am

We often hear that people with dementia are aggressive, or they lose their selfhood, or they will forget those who love them. But this session invites us into a different perspective – to see the ability, agency and purpose of those individuals living with dementia. We’ll discuss: insights from research; methods to maintain (and sometimes improve) abilities; and common dementia impacts and how to work through them.

Learning Objectives:

  1. List several takeaways from recent dementia research.
  2. Demonstrate several methods to maintain abilities of people living with dementia.
  3. Explain common symptoms of dementia and ways to interact through them.
